The Australian Ballooning Federation in concert with the Australian Commercial Hot Air Ballooning industry is deeply saddened by the accident which occurred in Texas, USA on Saturday 30 July 2016.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to all the families and friends of all those impacted by this tragic event.
We understand that comprehensive investigations are underway in the United States of America and we will await the findings of such investigations and any operational recommendations which may result.
In the meantime and with the greatest respect for all involved the Australian ballooning industry will not comment on the details of the accident, as is only appropriate.
The hot air ballooning community internationally is bound by a shared wonder and love of lighter than air aviation, which, despite this recent event remains one of the world's safest forms of aviation.
All members of the Australian hot air ballooning industry including commercial pilots, ground crew, maintenance and operations specialists together with their families and friends send our support and condolences to our Texan and American colleagues.
